Custom solutions.
Not every innovation is ready for large-scale production. A promising lab result, a novel ingredient or an emerging process often requires further development before it can be applied reliably in practice. The path from innovation to production can be complex, but with the right structure, it becomes manageable.
QMEA supports customers in transforming early-stage developments into scalable, commercially viable solutions. By integrating R&D, manufacturing and supply chain expertise into one coordinated approach, we help bridge the gap between laboratory success and reliable long-term production.

When custom manufacturing is required.
Custom manufacturing becomes relevant when standard portfolio materials are unavailable or insufficient for the intended application or scale. This typically applies in situations where:
- A new product requires an ingredient that is not commercially available
- A lab-scale development needs to be scaled to pilot or production level
- Existing supply cannot meet required specifications or consistency
- A process requires adaptation to become commercially viable
In each case, the project moves from "is there a material that fits?" to "let's build the right one."

From concept to scale.
Many projects start with a promising idea or a successful lab-scale result, but lack a clear route to commercial production. Scaling up requires more than technical feasibility. It means choosing the right production route, aligning stakeholders and building a supply chain that is stable, scalable and cost-effective.
QMEA structures this process from the start. We bring together the expertise, partners and capabilities needed to move from early-stage development to scalable production. Where needed, we invest in development, production capacity or regulatory work to help turn potential into progress.

From request to commercial production.
Custom manufacturing projects require a structured, step-by-step approach. QMEA coordinates each phase, ensuring alignment between development, production and supply.

Customer request
Each project starts with a clearly defined customer need, such as a new product, an unavailable ingredient or a scale-up challenge. QMEA structures this phase by analyzing technical requirements, assessing feasibility and defining a realistic development and supply approach.

R&D development
The product or process is developed or optimized in collaboration with R&D partners. This includes refining formulations, evaluating production routes and translating lab-scale results into processes that are technically viable and prepared for scale-up.

Pilot scale
At pilot scale, the process is tested under controlled conditions to validate performance, consistency and scalability. This phase helps identify potential risks, optimize process parameters and confirm that the process can be reliably transferred to production.

Commercial production
Once validated, production is scaled up through selected manufacturing partners. QMEA coordinates production, quality control and logistics, ensuring that materials are delivered consistently and in line with agreed specifications and supply conditions, also after commercial scale has been reached.
Everything you need to know.
Custom manufacturing is relevant when a product is not yet available at scale, when lab-developed products need to be commercialized, or when standard supply does not meet technical or commercial requirements.
Yes. We support both early-stage concepts and projects that already exist at lab scale, helping to translate them into scalable and commercially viable production processes.
We structure the process from R&D to pilot and commercial scale, connecting the right partners and ensuring that technical, operational and supply chain requirements are aligned.
QMEA works with a network of qualified manufacturing partners. We select and coordinate the right production setup based on the specific requirements of each project.
Yes. We support feasibility assessments by evaluating production routes, scalability and supply chain implications, helping to determine whether a project can be realized at commercial scale.
Yes. QMEA remains involved after scale-up, organizing supply, logistics and quality control to ensure reliable and continuous delivery.
Where required, we can invest in development, production capacity or regulatory requirements to enable projects to move forward and scale successfully.
Timelines depend on the complexity of the project, the stage of development and the requirements for scale-up and validation. We define a structured approach and timeline at the start of each project.
Let's discuss your challenge.
